You will see

  • An award-winning olive oil estate
  • The stunning scenery of Waiheke Island
  • Two of the Island's top wineries

From Cruise Port:    Auckland

Make sure you have booked yourself on the 9am Fullers ferry from Auckland to Waiheke Island - the scenic trip takes 45 minutes and offers a stunning cruise across the Auckland harbour past the naval dockyard of Devonport and the volcanic island of Rangitoto. Your guide will be waiting for you at the Matiatia wharf and your island tour commences with a drive along the scenic northern route, taking in spectacular views of the Hauraki Gulf and beyond to the Coromandel Peninsula.

First stop is a visit to the award winning Rangihoua Estate, where the first olive oil on the North Island was produced. Here you will learn how the olive oil is produced and have chance to taste the many varieties on offer.

Next it's on to the first winery visit for tasting - this will either be Peacock Sky OR the Wild on Waiheke vineyard and micro-brewery. Here you can also experience the "Taste Waiheke" area and sample locally produced food items.

Peacock Wines are famous for their award winning 2011 Chardonnay, but also offer Rose Methode Traditionelle, Rose, Cabernet and Merlot Malbec varieties. Wines tasted are matched to tempting morsels created daily.

Wild on Waiheke offers both wines and micro brewed beers, such as pale and dark ales and non-alcoholic ginger beers. Their "Top Knot" wines are well regarded.

Then it's on to Kennedy Point Vineyard - producers of Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, Chardonnay and Rose wines, created using the bio-dynamic method. Many of these varieties have achieved international awards! You can also taste their estate grown olive and avocado oils. The visit here will also include some local Te Matuku Bay Oysters and a small cheese board to sample with your wine.

Our lunch destination is next, at the renowned Mud Brick Vineyard. Here we include a platter style lunch which you can enjoy sitting out in their potager gardens overlooking the Waitemata Harbour with views back to Auckland.

Our guide will return after lunch for the short transfer back to catch the 3.00pm ferry, or if you want to stay longer on the island, can drop you at Oneroa Village for you to explore on your own.
